A Fresh Bathroom Face-Lift: Smart Storage & Stylish Upgrades

Sometimes, a bathroom doesn’t need a full gut remodel to feel brand new—it just needs the right adjustments. Our recent client came to us with a common challenge: their bathroom lacked efficient storage, and quick-fix solutions had only made things worse. A bulky linen cabinet made it difficult to use one of the double vanity sinks comfortably. The space felt more like a rental than a thoughtfully designed home bath.
Rather than incurring the costs of a full remodel, the client chose to keep the existing tile and vanity while giving the space a modern facelift. That’s where Ray Construction of Marietta came in.
The vision began with a black matte metal medicine cabinet, purchased by the client, with a striking black arc mullion design. We recessed and centered it over the toilet to give it a custom, built-in look. This design choice set the tone for the rest of the space.
From there, we carried the matte black accents into the shower. We cut into the existing tile and installed a premade matte black niche, perfect for storing shampoos, soaps, and accessories. The shower was upgraded with a new matte black shower head and diverter, balancing against the original brushed nickel shower door. A brushed nickel grab bar provided safety without compromising style.

Another big upgrade was replacing the old, rotting wooden shower window with a new vinyl window that opens, bringing in light and ventilation.
To enhance the vanity wall, we installed vertical nickel gap paneling to complement the existing vertical white subway tile. Lighting was a major improvement as well—what was once a single fixture centered between two sinks became two separate fixtures, each aligned with new medicine cabinet mirrors over the sinks. We also relocated the lighting to create space for a dramatic arched full-length mirror.

Small details added big impact: a recessed toilet paper holder with a shelf (perfect for candles or an extra roll), and a 5-panel frosted glass door, which added drama and allowed natural light to filter through from the bedroom.
Finally, the entire bathroom was painted with Sherwin Williams Duration in Cay Blue, tying the room back to the existing glass tile detail in the shower.
The transformation was dramatic. What started as a cluttered bathroom is now a cohesive, stylish, and functional space—a fresh face-lift that proves you don’t always need a full remodel to completely reimagine a room.
