Bringing Back 1962 Charm: A Custom Bookshelf in Downtown Marietta

At Ray Construction of Marietta, we love projects that blend craftsmanship, history, and community—and this one checked all the boxes.

We recently had the pleasure of working with a wonderful homeowner right in the heart of downtown Marietta. Her request was simple yet meaningful: recreate a small bookshelf design original to her 1962 home. The original built-in was located in another part of the home, and she wanted a matching version to carry that classic charm throughout her space.

Using custom carpentry and careful attention to detail, we recreated the bookshelf to emulate the original design. The final piece blends in seamlessly, as if it has always been part of the home.

As an added bonus, we had the joy of working alongside one of our favorite job site companions: Bee, the homeowner’s sweet and loving dog, who made every workday more enjoyable.

This was a small project with a big heart, and we’re so proud of how it turned out. Thank you to our neighbor for trusting Ray Construction of Marietta with this meaningful addition to her home—we loved every minute of it.
